It owes its particular charm to the rich heritage it has preserved, its varied atmospheres and the successful cohabitation between the old town and contemporary life. In the shadow of Beaubourg, it has some wonderful things to discover.
After Les Halles moved out in 1969, the district seemed to sink into decrepitude. In a way, it was saved by the construction of the Georges Pompidou Centre, inaugurated in 1977.
